There was no glory for André Greipel in his first sprint after the successful Tour de France. After his team had dominated the finale of the first stage of the Eneco Tour, he started his sprint from afar but after briefly leading the race he drifted backwards and ended the stage in fourth.
"First stage @EnecoTour finished...@Lotto_Soudal made it close to perfect but I got the timing wrong 2day. Congrats to @eliaviviani 4 the win," he tweeted after the stage.
Greipel will get a chance to make amends in tomorrow's second stage which should be another one for the sprinters.
