André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) ended yesterday’s Tour de France stage in a rather disappointing 18th place. The German had his sights put on a stage win, but according to team manager Marc Wauters, on Monday he gets another chance.
The Belgian cycling team Lotto-Belisol had all their hopes on the first yellow jersey with Greipel, but that was before a crash in the final meters forced him to helplessly watch his compatriot Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) win the race.
"Greipel was completely caught behind the crash. We're just glad he was not caught up in it himself.” Positive side of the Lotto team manager Marc Wauters "Moreover, our sprint train was not really on the right track. Henderson was not on the pace and we were overruled by the other sprinters’ teams. So it goes in the Tour. Mistakes you pay in cash here.”
According to Wauters. Greipel gets another chance to win on Monday in stage three. "Tomorrow (Sunday, ed) is too difficult, but then we get a plane ride between Cambridge and London. There might possibly be chance for him."
