Andriy Grivko proved that he is in great condition at the start of the season when he finished 11th in today's Tour of Qatar time trial.
“All the best Classics riders are here – it’s good to go up against them, it gives me a lot of motivation for the mountains in Oman," he said.
The Ukrainian rider finished the short individual time trial on a flat road in strong winds 29 seconds behind stage winner Nikki Terpstra of the Netherlands.
Teammate Lars Boom finished one second behind Grivko, but for much of the afternoon held the fastest time of the day thanks to an early start in even stronger winds. Dmitriy Gruzdev finished four seconds behind Boom.
On Wednesday the Tour of Qatar resumes group racing, with Andrea Guardini recovering strongly to try again for Astana Pro Team in the mass sprints.
