Andrea Guardini again got close to another win in the Tour de Langkawi but for the second day in a row he had to settle for 2nd behind Theo Bos. The Italian is, however, hopeful that he will be able to win tomorrow's final stage that he knows well and has won in the past.
For the second year in a row, Andrea Guardini has been unable to continue his impressive run of success in the Tour de Langkawi where he is the record holder of most stage wins. Like last year, he has only been able to take one win so far and time is running out for the fast Italian.
Guardini got close to another win today when he finished second behind Theo Bos. That was his second consecutive runner-up spot behind the dominant Belkin sprinter who has taken three wins in a row.
Guardini doesn't have many options left if he wants to increase his record tally of stage wins in the race but there is still one chance left in tomorrow's final stage. Guardini has won that stage in the past and he claims that the short circuit race in Kuala Terengganu suits him much better than today's finish.
“I followed Bos in the wheels through the turns and into the last sprint and he got away," he said. "Tomorrow is a much better finish for me, and I know it very well”
Guardini also confirmed that he is again riding pain-free after his big crash on stage 2 that left him with a big hole in his foot and made his further participation in the race uncertain.
