Despite getting dropped on the late climbs in the final stage, Andrea Guardini won the points jersey at the Tour of Oman.
"I got 8 green jerseys this week - one for every rider on the team," he said.
Guardini won the Green Jersey overall points classification at the 2015 Tour of Oman, thanks to a stage two victory and daily intermediate sprint points.
Each day on the victory podium Guardini wore a long-sleeve ceremonial jersey, and then received a short-sleeve race jersey for the following stage.
"I wanted to win and it's a good result that rewards the efforts," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "After the stage win, I had the ambition to win the points jersey but I had to fight for it. Van Meirhaeghe gave me a hard time. Of course, if I had won another stage, it would have been even better. But this result is fine."
After 22 days in the Gulf, Guardini has shown consistently growing form and next flies home for ten days before his next race at the Tour de Langkawi, where he has the all-time record for stage wins in Malaysia's biggest race.
