Having finished in the top 10 in the first two stages of the Tour de Pologe, Marco Haller was hoping to make it three in a row in today's third stage of the race. However, the Austrian was held up by the late crash and finished back in 25th.

The big crash inside the final kilometer of the 3rd stage of the Tour de Pologne (Kielce – Rzeszyw, 174 km) had a big impact on the results of the race. Few riders fell down just before the last corner, cutting most part of the peloton including Team Katusha’s rider Marco Haller.

"The crash happened before the right-hand corner, where the wide road became very narrow," he said. "Somebody touched the brakes too hard so a few riders fell down. The riders who were lucky, passed the crash and played the victory. The crash was almost in front of me, so I had to stop and clicked out out the pedal.

"Fortunately I avoided the crash, but it was impossible to reach the leaders. What a pity, because I felt quite good today and was motivated to fight for a high result. But we still have a stage for the sprinters, so I want to use this chance."
