Bernard Hinault will leave his public relations position with ASO after this year’s Tour de France. The last French rider to win the Tour de France wants to return in his native Brittany to spend more time with his family.

"I will be 62 in November. I have a grandson who is 16 months old, and I was never there for my own kids, so I want to be there for my grandson", he told AFP. "I will leave the Tour in good hands.I will still be around, I just won’t be doing the 140 days a year I am doing now."

He is one of only six cyclists to have won all three Grand Tours. He won the rainbow jersey in 1980, the national road race championships in 1978, two Liège-Bastogne-Liège (1977 and 1980), two Giro di Lombardia (1979 and 1984), two La Flèche Wallonne (1979 and 1983), one Paris-Roubaix (1981), one Gent-Wevelgem (1977) and one Amstel Gold Race (1981).
