Home crowd favourites Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv assumed a dominant role at the Copenhagen Six Days race last night.

Not only did they win the first Madison of the evening, Michael Mørkøv also claimed a win in the Derny race and the team also won the 2,000 metres team pursuit thus amassing enough points to take the overall lead.

The only setback came when Marc Hester destroyed Alex Rasmussen in the decisive sprint in the team elimination.

Earlier Marcel Kalz was untouchable in the 250 metres time trial, winning the event in 12,519 seconds – a fraction of a second short of the track record he set in Copenhagen last year.

The final Madison of the second day of racing was won by Wim Stroetinga and Jesper Mørkøv. They are currently trailing the front trio by four laps, though, and a place on the podium seems out of reach.
