Johnny Hoogerland again finds himself in a possible legal battle after he has complained about not receiving the full salary from his former Androni Giocattoli team. Now the Dutchman has broken the silence and explains his dissatisfaction with his former employer.
Johnny Hoogerland asks the International Cycling Union for advice about what steps he can take against his former Italian team Androni Giocattoli. Earlier this week, the Dutchman expressed his frustration via Twitter, claiming that he had not been paid his full December salary. According to Hoogerland's team manager Gianni Savio from Androni-Giocattoli, the team has done everything correctly.
"Since June I have been asking the team to sign the A1 form and send it back. This is what I need for my social insurance in the Netherlands. The team has refused to do so. I have never received the money for image rights," Hoogerland tells De Telegraaf . "And in December they only paid forty percent of my normal salary while Article 11 in the UCI joint agreement clearly states that you will receive the same amount every month."
According to Androni, the team has transferred part of the money to the Italian authorities due to the local tax legislation. The Italian team is also unhappy with Hoogerland's tweet and plans to take legal action against their former rider.
