Johnny Hoogerland has not heard of the charges against him by his former employer Gianni Savio. The Dutchman hit the end of 2014 in discord with the Italian team manager because of a dubious discount of 2,300 euros from his December salary. Savio then threatened to file a complaint, but a month later, Hoogerland still no news of the law suit, as confirmed by his manager Frank Kwanten to WeilerFlits.
"We have received nothing about it yet," says Kwanten, who doubts that the charges have been filed. "Whether it is the case, you should ask the team, but we still know nothing." While there is little progress on the case, Kwanten is still hopeful of an “amicable solution.”
Kwanten recently received an Italian wage specification that he had to translate himself. Meanwhile he has responded in a letter to the management of the Italian cycling team. "I sent them a letter with some questions. They have nicely responded that the letter was received. We are still awaiting for a direct response."
The conflict began in December when Hoogerland asked for advice from UCI president Brian Cookson via Twitter, which the Italian team manager threatened Hoogerland with an indictment for libel and slander. According to Savio, his 90,000 euro salary was paid "fully and without delay". The decrease he blames on taxes and contributions.
