Twelve riders have been selected by Lampre-Merida’s technical staff to go to the Spanish island. In turn they will alternate in taking part in the four races according to the daily decisions made by sport directors Pedrazzini and Matxin and by the technical assistant Marzano.
These are the riders that will race in Mallorca: Damiano Cunego, Diego Ulissi, Sacha Modolo, Maximiliano Richeze, Przemyslaw Niemiec, Josè Serpa, Kristijan Durasell, Jan Polanc and Mattia Cattaneo, with the important presence of Chris Horner, who'll make his official debut in his new team. Also joining the Lampre-Merida team are Nelson Oliveira and world road race champion Rui Costa.
The participation of Chris Horner is bound to attract special interest following the difficulty he experienced finding a new team despite his overall win at the Vuelta a España last year.
This is the schedule of the races:
- Sunday 9 February, Trofeo Palma, 116 km, flat course.
- Monday 10 February, Trofeo Ses Salines-Campos-Santanyì, 183 km, 4 climbs of 4th category.
- Tuesday 11 February, Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, 150 km with the demanding climb of Col de Puig Major 20 km from the finish line.
- Wednesday 12 February, Trofeo Muro-Port d'Alcudia, 160 km with 4 climbs of 2nd category and a flat final sector.
