Bortosz Huzarski almost foiled the sprinters in Sunday's GP de Fourmies. The strong Pole was part of a trio in the finale and was only caught with less than one kilometre to go.

The 250-kilometer-long GP de Fourmies / La Voix du Nord today was the third stop in Team NetApp-Endura’s fall schedule. As expected, the race in north France ended in a mass sprint, which was won by Jonas van Genechten (Lotto Belisol). But Bartosz Huzarski had bad luck. The 33-year-old NetApp-Endura pro was able to break away, accompanied by one other rider, as far as the home stretch, and was not caught until the last 500 meters. Ralf Matzka took 16th place with the same time as the winner.

“The field let a small group break away in the first hour of today’s race, and the large sprinter teams controlled the field. When the breakaways were caught, there were counterattacks and a large group got clear. Bartosz was part of this, and he then attacked from within this group with two other riders. For a long time, it looked like these three riders would make it to the finish line first. But the cooperation in the group unfortunately didn’t function that well, so that they were caught 500 meters before the finish line. Bartosz rode a strong race – it’s too bad that it wasn’t rewarded today,” was the summary by Andre Schulze, Team NetApp-Endura’s Sport Director.
