After a year and a half without a victory - his last win was as a stage in the 2011 Tour of Beijing -, Heinrich Haussler (IAM Cycling) was understandably happy after winning the final stage of the Bayern-Rundfahrt in Nürnberg today.
“Of course I’m satisfied; this was a nice stage win,” Haussler said. “It’s great to win again, and it shows that my form is getting better. Hopefully I can strike again in the Tour de Suisse.”
It has been a successful race for the Swiss team, with Haussler also taking a third place on stage 3, Marcel Wyss placing 9th in the ITT, and Stefan Denifl winning the mountain jersey.
The Austrian commented: “I only had to defend my lead today, and I’m happy to have won the mountain classification. We’ve also taken the team classification, so I think we’ve had a good race. It was hard, but we showed ourselves, and it was good preparation for the Tour de Suisse which will be a highlight for our team.”
The Tour de Suisse starts on the 8th of June, and IAM Cycling is one of the two Professional Continental teams that have secured a wildcard for the race.
