Although didn't apply for the world tour spot, IAM cycling still has big ambitions for 2014. The Swiss-based team is looking for wild cards of at least two grand tours, the team founder Michael Thetaz announced in a press conference.
IAM cycling acquired some big name riders in this offseason, including French classic specialist Sylvain Chavanel, and Swiss climber Mathias Frank. The new additions could boost the chance of the wildcards, especially Chavanel's presence is a hard-to-resist appeal for the Tour organizers.
The other target could be the Giro d'Italia, which the team already applied for the wildcard. The Italian grand tour has 3 open spots, and they'll be contested between IAM and the likes of Colombia, Cara-Rujal and NetApp.
There's another big change waiting to happen in the IAM cycling team, per Thetaz. He will probably hire a new director sportif soon. Serge Beucherie is currently the team's DS.
