Next season Marco Haller will again be part of the WorldTour Team Katusha. The Austrian rider and the team reached an agreement to continue working together.
Marco Haller (24) was one of the key elements of the team leading to the 11 successes of Alexander Kristoff in his Spring campaign. Amongst Kristoff’s victories were the Tour of Flanders, Scheldeprijs and Three-Days of De Panne-Koksijde.
"It is so fun for me to be in this team and have all of these victories. All riders like to win themselves but for me winning with Alexander is like winning myself. I don’t want to miss this feeling. When Team Katusha asked me to re-sign with the team, I did not hesitate. It was a sign of trust; I don’t want to disappoint them," said Marco Haller.
Marco Haller is currently in his fourth season with Team Katusha. For the team he won a stage in the Tour of Beijing (2012) and the Tour of Austria (2014).
"Marco is fast himself, but the fact that he likes to sacrifice himself convinced us in our decision to go on together. The key for our successes this year is team spirit. We will not let this spirit escape. Moreover, Marco is still young and he has big potential. Even this year, when he had the chance to sprint for himself in the GP Nobili, he did not disappoint and obtained a podium spot. Marco is now a definite part of our sprinter’s train, but he will grow as a classic rider too. His and our future look good and more riders re-signing with us will follow," said general manager Viacheslav Ekimov.
Details on the newly signed contract will not be disclosed. Additional riders will be announced when appropriate.
After a well-deserved rest period, Marco Haller is now picking up the competition in the Tour of Norway (May 20th-24th).
