The third stage of Vuelta a Burgos saw Russian Vladimir Isaychev outsprinting his breakaway companions for the victory. Just behind him, Matteo Busato of the Southeast Cycling Team took his second runner-up result this year. The first one was obtained in the 10th stage in Giro d’Italia, where he was beaten by Nicola Boem (Bardiani).
The third stage of the race was especially hard due to the weather conditions. The sprint of the peloton was won by another Southeast rider, Brasilian Rafael Andriato, with Manuel Belletti, also Southeast, coming in just behind him. Simone Ponzi took 8th place on the stage.
The best placed Southeast rider is Rafael Andriato, now 20th, 55 seconds behind race leader Luis Leon Sanchez of Astana.
