After his win in Cholet Pays de Loire and second place in the Criterium International queen stage, Pierrick Fedrigo (Bretagne) confirmed his good condition when he finished second behind Julien Loubet in Paris-Camembert.
"I wanted to win again here as it is a course that suits me well," he told Directvelo. "But I came across a rider who was stronger than me. The new course has not changed much. The race was decided in the finale. We had to be vigilant and to be there at the right time. We managed to do so with the team, Anthony Delaplace and I were in the break with seven riders.
"We have not had much time to talk, but I told Anthony that he had to be watch Julien Loubet. We had to look at the riders who were strong, I was wary of him. I do not know why. Finally, I could see he was riding strongly and I knew he was not going to wait for the sprint. When I saw his attack, I immediately jumped on his wheel.
"Five kilometers from the line, we thought we had to give everything and the strongest of us would win. We fought well. What made the difference? I do not know, maybe the position in the sprint. He was behind me and the wind was unfavorable.
"Obviously, I'm disappointed but I have no regrets. I did not really think about my victory in 2013. As long as the line is not crossed, you can't start to celebrate. I can get my revenge in the Circuit de la Sarthe. We are in a good momentum. When you get victories, it serves to motivate the team and move forward."
