Wanty-Groupe Gobert will take part for the first time in the Tour de Romandie, a six-days stage race of World Tour level.
The team will line-up with Mark McNally, Frederik Veuchelen, Marco Minnaard, Gaëtan Bille, Enrico Gasparotto, Marco Marcato, Dimitri Claeys, Guillaume Martin.
Team captain Thomas Degand will not ride this race. He is recovering from a broken elbow. Wanty-Groupe Gobert still have ambitions for this 70th edition.
"Some riders like Enrico Gasparotto proved their good form in the Ardennes classics. Enrico Gasparotto, Dimitri Claeys and Marco Marcato are able to get a result in the first stage in line, but for the GC, it is going to be difficult", sports director Hilaire Van der Schueren said.
The TT specialists would find two chances to test their legs with a prologue and an individual time trial.
"It won't be easy affairs. The time trials are not flat. Gaëtan Bille will have a great opportunity to compete with the best TT specialists. It's going to be very interesting", Hilaire Van der Schueren continues.
Sports director Hilaire Van der Schueren hopes that his riders will learn a lot from this race.
"This is the first Tour de Romandie for most of the riders. That's why I do not except too much from this race. The riders will also prepare for the national championships in June."
Wanty Group Gobert's riders will ride with green special helmets to support the Greenhouse Foundation against cancer.
