Petr Vakoc (Etixx-QuickStep) won stage 2 of the Tour of Britain in Colne after he went solo during the last part of the stage, chased by a solid group of 50 riders. Team Cult Energy had a good day which gave them a top 5 result with team captain Rasmus Guldhammer who sprinted to fourth.
“Rasmus was feeling good today and managed 4th. Today’s race had a quite fast start. But two groups got a way and at the 100km mark the race reopened again and the finale started quite early. It was decided between a group of 50 with Guldhammer and Petr Vakoc who won with 10 seconds," sports director Luke Roberts said.
“Today was a great day, Quaade helped me a lot during the last 3 km towards the finish. I think we are in a good position and I feel ready for the 3rd stage. So great to finish a day of great teamwork with a top 5 result," Guldhammer said.
