After his stage win in the Tour du Limousin, Rudy Molard (Cofidis) confirmed his good condition with a third place in the Tour du Doubs.
“Today, the tactics of the team was to go in a breakaway," he told Directvelo. "We bluffed a bit. When the team chased in the peloton, it was only to allow me to save myself in the break. But it didn’t work too well. Jean-Christophe Péraud and Alexandre Geniez understood our tactics.
"The objective was to win and I finished third. Eduardo Sepulveda was the strongest. I was taken out by cramps in the finale. I was in all the breaks from the start. I really did not miss a break. It was a bit of a mess in the escape, there were a lot of attacks. I'm still happy to be on the podium.
"I am happy with my current form. It is true that I was disappointed not to be selected for the Vuelta. This is normal, because I was preselected. But I quickly moved on, I quickly refocused on the end of the season. I will now participate in the Grand Prix de Wallonie and the Grand Prix Isbergues where the team will race for Nacer Bouhanni. "
