Son of the 5-times Tour Winner, Miguel Indurain Jr., has signed a contract to join Caja Rural team, a Navarra-based Pro Continental squad.
His family, though, initially designed a different path for him, as they wanted him to go to law school. Perhaps cycling is so attractive for the young Navarran rider, or maybe his talent is just too good to forfeit the pro cycling path, Indurain Jr. declined the family advice and chooses to follow his father's steps.
Indurain Jr., 18-year-old, already won regional Navarran championship in both road race and time trial discipline. He'll join the espoir division of the Caja Rural team, and will likely to be promoted to the first team. Or, being acquired by some world tour team, like Movistar team, which is another team based in Navarra region, and also the team his father joined and won those five Tours with.
The sport recently has seen a lot of "second generation" cyclists joining, like Taylor Phinney and Moreno Moser, both obtained promising results. In 2014 Rick Zabel, son of multiple Tour point jersey winner Eric Zabel, will join BMC squad too.
