FDJ has announced that William Bonnet (1982) will stay with the team next season after he suffered a severe crash in the third stage of the Tour de France.
Bonnet was worse affected than anyone else in a massive crash on the third day of the Tour, suffering a head injury and a multi-fragmented fracture of the second cervical vertebra which required surgery. Tom Dumoulin and Simon Gerrans also had to abandon and race leader Fabian Cancellara and Michael Matthews were also involved.
After his operation, Bonnet had to wear a brace but now he only has to use it at at night. The French rider hopes to resume training in December. Nevertheless, manager Marc Madiot has renewed his contract with the team where he has been since 2011 after having ridden for Credit Agricole and Bouygues Telecom.
Youngsters Marc Fournier (1994), Odd Christian Eiking (1994), Daniel Hoelgaard (1993) and Jérémy Maison (1993) and Sébastien Reichenbach (1989, IAM Cycling) and Ignatas Konovalovas (1985, Marseille 13-KTM) are the six new signings of a team that will again be led by Thibaut Pinot and Arnaud Demare.
