André Greipel will have to skip Milan-Sanremo. The German sprinter has too much discomfort from his crash last month in the Volta ao Algarve. Tim Wellens and Tony Gallopin will bethe leaders of Lotto-Soudal in La Primavera.
André Greipel broke a rib on February 24 in the fourth stage of the Volta ao Algarve. The strong German returned to action in Paris-Nice, but on Friday he had to throw in the towel in the fifth stage.
Greipel is still not 100 percent. The team has now decided not to let the German start La Primavera on Saturday. He has never done better than a 24th place in 2014.
Lotto-Soudal will focus on Tim Wellens and Tony Gallopin.
"I do not ride in supoort, I get a free role," Wellens told Sporza. "I can't win in a sprint.I have to make my move on the Poggio or earlier."
