According to the schedule, he will reach the Giro with 23 days of racing in his legs which is a bit more than the 18 he had in 2013. He made his breakthrough in the Basque race in 2010 when he was second behind Chris Horner and he was 4th in 2011 and 8th in 2013. The Klasika Primavera takes place in his local area and is another important event. He had fond memories of the Vuelta a Asturias too as he finished on the podium in 2010 and won the race in 2012.
After an inconsistent 2014 season where he was 3rd in the Tour de Pologne and 6th in the Tour de Romandie but failed to reach hib best level at the Tour de France, he hopes to find his best legs again. He hopes to be back on the starting line in the French grand tour as he wants to assist Quintana and Valverde in their quest to finish on the podium in Paris. Another option is the Vuelta a Espana, a race he has not missed since 2009.
