The Spanish team Movistar, the world's number one in 2013 and 2014, will be in the Volta ao Algarve/Tour of Algarve (February 18-22) with a team able to fight for the overall classification.

 

The team of José Luis Jaimerena will be led by the spanish road champion Ion Izaguirre who will be one of the men in the fight for the yellow jersey. Italian Time Trial champion and recent winner of the individual exercise in the Tour de San Luis Adriano Malori will be the favourite to win the time trial.

 

2013 Spanish time trial champion Jonathan Castroviejo, the winner of the 2013 Tour de l'Avenir in 2013 Rubén Fernández, Jesús Herrada, José Herrada, Marc Soler and John Gadret are all solid climbers that may fight for the top positions in the overall standings.

 

With Movistar, the Volta ao Algarve/Tour of Algarve now has eight WorldTour teams: Astana, Cannondale-Garmon, Ettix-QuickStep, Katusha, Lotto NL-Jumbo, Lotto Soudal, Movistar and Sky.

 

Five teams from the professional continental category will be present Bora Argon-18, Caja Rural-Seguros RGS, RusVelo, Team Roompot and Wanty-Groupe Gobert. The organizers have also ensured the presence of the six portuguese continental teams as well as the continental Optum p / b Kelly Benefit Strategies team.
