Gorka Izagirre confirmed his huge progress as a time triallist when he finished second behind Jonathan Castroviejo at the Spanish TT championships on a day when his Movistar team made it a 1-2-3.
"My personal goal was to be on the podium and I am very happy with the second place," he said. "It was a very very hard time trial,: high temperatures, lack of water. It was a totally exhausting effort. In the second part I had had a problem of riding without time references. The earpiece was not working and I knew nothing about what was happening in the time trial, I only had my computer and my feelings to follow. I gauged my effort well throughout the entire race and I could finish strongly. It was a nice feeling to post the best time. Will I do the Tour? I hope to be there, but I will wait for the confirmation." .
