After the individual time trial at the World Championships In Richmond, Virginia, Jesse Sergent confirmed he will leave Trek Factory Racing at the end of this season.
"I’ll be leaving. It’s been a good five years with them but I think that it’s time to move on and have a bit of a refresh", he New Zealander told Cyclingnews. "It’s still not 100 per cent confirmed yet. I’m still going through the phases but I’d like to think that by the end of the week it will be a done deal and that I can focus on next season. The next few days will be the telling point. I’d like to think that by the road race I’d be able to give you a different answer."
After some years on track, he signed a professional contract for 2011 with Team RadioShack. Sergent, with several other riders, joined the former Leopard Trek team to form RadioShack-Nissan, ahead of the 2012 season. In 2016, he could move to Tinkoff-Saxo. Indeed, Sean Yates explained that he is on his short-list, but he did not confirm this recruitment.
