After going one step forward in Saur-Sojasun, Jerome Coppel signed for Cofidis in 2013 with high hopes. Bothered by a virus, the French failed to express the way he wanted throughout the past two seasons in the North. In the end of 2014, however, the native of Annemasse seems regain color.
There are some days, his transfer to the IAM for 2015 season became official. He speaks with Velo Club about his time at Cofidis, but mostly to discuss his future with the Swiss team. Does it get better by changing the team?
The 2014 season was not as successful as he explains: "There is always the virus I contracted in 2013 that was there. The season has been a bit complicated. There were ups and downs. Afterwards, when we were able to eliminate the virus from the end of June, it was starting to get a lot better. I had a good Tour of Austria, it was also the Tour de l'Ain and my Vuelta was good. I have finished the year and I'm ready to attack 2015 peacefully."
"From 2013 to June 2014, it was not good, I do not hide it. Now when we know why it does not work, it's immediately a little easier mentally. It must take its troubles patiently. We must continue to work towards better days, and I hope that next year, it will go well."
The French rider told Velo Club that he is in contact with the staff of IAM Cycling for a while. "It's been a long time we are in contact. I am a neighbor of their team. This is a project that really interested me. They told me what they wanted from me, what I could bring to their team, and how I could help. We agreed and I am very happy with the transfer."
"I'm in my 28th year and I will actually enter the prime of life. I spent two years a bit of a chore. I begin to see the end of the tunnel. If I find my physical abilities, I am able to do some great things. I'm really motivated and confident for 2015."
