World Championships Team Time Trial in Ponferrada is a few hours away. Tinkoff-Saxo has sent six riders to Spain to compete in the only non-national team based event during the championship. Sunday, at precisely 15:36, Rogers, Bennati, Valgren, Boaro, Roche and Juul-Jensen will roll down the start ramp onto the 57.1-kilometer route to compete for the win.

25-year old Christopher Juul-Jensen is riding the second team time trial of his career, but had a good season, showing examples of his strong engine on many occasions throughout the year. Juul-ensen says that he’s excited about his selection for Tinkoff-Saxo’s TTT squad.

“It’s really great to be taken into consideration by Bjarne and the team knowing that they believe that I can do a good job here. I’m not superstitious but I really don’t dare to say that I’m proud yet if I get dropped after 20 k. But I feel strong after Tour of Britain and I have a good feeling about the team’s capabilities to just get those disc wheels spinning at a fast pace from the start. We are all excited and tense”, says Chris Juul-Jensen.

The UCI team based TTT at the World Championships with six riders has only been around for two years, but it bears a striking resemblance to the 100 k national team based TTT that took place between 1962 and 1994. Juul-Jensen is happy to have the team time trial back as a discipline at the World Championships and, according to him, it will only become increasingly prestigious.

“I want to write a blog about this event. It’s a scary and great concept. Six guys just pounding those pedals to the sound of humming disc wheels – succeeded and followed by teams trying to ride quicker than you. This is something we take seriously. If we get the machinery to work today, I believe that we can aim for a spot on the podium but no matter what I’m really proud of riding together with these guys”, adds Chris Juul-Jensen, who tells that all preparations has been completed – it’s now a matter of waiting for the countdown while staying calm.
