Russian WorldTour Team Katusha has announced the signing of three newcomers for the 2014 season. Katusha has sought to strengthen its squad by including a trio of Russian riders: Egor Silin (25), Alexander Rybakov (25) and Pavel Kochetkov (27).
Egor Silin makes a switch from Astana and was 4th in stage 6 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, 12th at Vuelta a Murcia and 14th on general classification in the Volta a Catalunya earlier this year.
Alexander Rybakov comes from the Rusvelo ProContinental team. His best results in 2013 include 1st place at the Memorial of Oleg Dyachenko, 4th place in the prologue of Volta a Portugal and 9th place in the Russian national road race championships.
Pavel Kochetkov also joins Katusha from the Rusvelo ProContinental team. His 2013 palmares include 4th place in the Russian national road race championships, 4th place in the prologue of the Volta a Portugal and 6th place in the 1st stage of Giro del Trentino.
“Katusha Team as well as any other WorldTour team can’t be a mono-national structure. However, the Russian part of the project has to improve continuously. All three newcomers have a great potential and can reach some good results. I am sure they will strengthen our team,” said Katusha general manager Viacheslav Ekimov.
