Home crowd favourite Franco Marvulli stole some of the limelight as the Sixday Nights finished in his Zürich hometown yesterday.

 

It was Marvulli’s farewell race on a Swiss track and even though he and partner Tristan Marguet were unable to play a role in the overall standings, they did take the honours in both the one lap time trial for one rider and the two lap time trial for teams.

 

Local blushes were saved as Silvan Dillier and Iljo Keisse managed to lap the peloton and, significantly, Keisse’s Belgian compatriots De Ketele and De Buyst just nine laps before the finish. The Belgians had been in complete control throughout the final evening but succumbed to Keisse’s blistering attack in the closing phases of the final Madison.
