After a motorist reportedly deliberately crashed into Iljo Keisse of Etixx-QuickStep just 500m from his house on June 10, the Belgian’s track career may be over.
Het Nieuwsblad have reported the driver had previously appeared before the court on counts of fraud, weapons display and deliberate assault and battery.
Etixx-Quick Step doctor Yvan Van Mol explained to Sporza that the affects of the accident were not immediately noticeable.
"Immediately after the incident Iljo was relatively unaffected, but a few hours later he had pain in his shoulder. We therefore carried out additional investigations. It showed a dislocated shoulder," Van Mol said.
Both a doctor from Ghent University Hospital and Van Mol say that Keisse no longer no longer has to range of motion required to perform the slings used in events like the Madison.
The case against the driver has been put back to September 10.
