One day after Simon Gerrans broke his collarbone in a training crash, Wilco Kelderman is the next major cycling star to sustainn the same injury. In his preparation for the 2015 season, the Team LottoNL-Jumbo rider has broken his right clavicle, according to a tweet from his team. Kelderman who finished seventh in the Giro d'Italia and fourth in the Criterium du Dauphiné, will have to undergo surgery.
Kelderman crashed two days ago while he was training in Spain. "I went over a bump and lost control of my bike," he told NOS. "I immediately knew it was wrong. I have flown back to the Netherlands and will now undergo surgery."
The first major goal for Kelderman in the new year is Paris-Nice in March. "For my preparation, it doesn't change a lot. This week I has scheduled a rest period," said Kelderman who expects to be fully recovered in a few weeks."
