According to L’Alsace, Team Europcar refused Christophe Kern to extend his contract and thus the 33-year old Frenchman is forced to look for another team to continue his professional career with.
The whole Kern’s career as a professional cyclist was so far connected with French squads. He spent in the Europcar outfit last four seasons, during which he took his sole stage victory at the Criterium du Dauphine 2011 edition. The 33-year old Frenchman played an important role as a domestique in the team, though, and thus he took their decision to deny him a new contract as disappointing.
According to L’Alsace, Kern will try to find a new team at the Pro Continental level.
“I was very disappointed at first, especially that I was receiving a positive feedback from the team in their latest releases, but I want to remain focused on remaining races at the moment,” Kern told the French newspaper.
Kern is expected to line-up at the Il Lombardia on October 5 as his final appearance in the Europcar outfit.
