As it was reported by the Italian media yesterday, Fredrik Kessiakoff’s participation in the coming Tirreno-Adriatico edition is under a serious threat following the crash he suffered in the Strade Bianche last Saturday.
The 33-year old Astana rider sustained numerous injuries as a consequence of a high-speed crash on a descent being part of the infamous Monte Sante Marie gravel section, including lacerated, wounded and bruised knee, right thigh, elbow and hand.
Following the accident, in which also the talented Trek Factory Racing rider Riccardo Zoidl was involved, Kessiakoff pulled out of the Roma Maxima held next day and it is yet to be verified whether the Swedish wider will be able to participate in the Tirreno-Adriatico starting tomorrow.
Michele Scarponi was appointed the Astana captain for the Race of the Two Seas, with participation of only two other riders of the Kazakh team – Janez Brajkovic and Tanel Kangert, being so far confirmed.
