At the end of the 2012 season Croatian rider Robert Kiserlovski switched from Astana to RadioShack-Leopard and that move has now been repaid with the role of team leader at the forthcoming Giro d’Italia.
When still riding for the Liquigas team in 2010, Kiserlovski finished 10th overall at the Italian Grand Tour, a result he has since failed to duplicate, something he will be looking to rectify this year. Most recently, Kiserlovski had performed well at the Tour de Romandie, lying fourth overall going into the final stage individual time trial where he dropped 10 places, however, to end up almost 3 minutes behind Chris Froome (Sky) on general classification.
Climbing specialist Tiago Machado will be hoping to make an impact in the mountains aided by Nelson Oliveira and Yaroslav Popovych.
Giacomo Nizzolo will carry the team’s expectations on the flat stages, assisted by veteran Danilo Hondo.
RadioShack-Leopard line-up for Giro d’Italia:
George Bennett, Danilo Hondo, Robert Kiserlovski, Tiago Machado, Giacomo Nizzolo, Nelson Oliveira, Yaroslav Popovych, Hayden Roulston and Jesse Sergent
