Team Sky sports director Servais Knaven says that with Michal Kwiatkowski joining the team, the 2016 Classics squad is the best the British team has ever had.
“With Kwiatkowski, we have someone who won the Amstel Gold Race. He knows how to do it! He has the talent. He was world champion, he’s one of the only riders in the team who’s won a big one-day race in the past. That doesn’t mean he’s going to win again next year, but he has the potential. That’s good for the whole group in my eyes,” Knaven told VeloNews.
While Kwiatkowski will lead the Ardennes team, he is also being touted to ride the Tour of Flanders, where he was amazing back in 2013, where he spent the day in a break and almost made it over the Kwaremont with Sagan and Cancellara. Knaven says all the riders on Team Sky can learn big things from the Pole.
“The guys can learn from him and talk about it,” added Knaven. “It’s good to have someone with that experience in the team. It’s good to have him with us. I think he’s one of the strongest riders in the whole peloton.”
