Unlucky day for Team Colombia-Coldeportes’ athletes at Bayern Rundfahrt, in Germany. In the stage 3 (Selb – Ebern 205,9 Km), Irish Sam Bennett (Bora Argon 18) claimed a strong victory, outsprinting Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) and Ramunas Navardauskas (Cannondale-Garmin), whilst Leonardo Duque was the best of Colombia’s line-up on the finish line, finishing 14th.
A long 5-man escape characterized the race: Rasmus Quaade (Cult Energy), Leon Berger (Team Brandenburg), Simone Antonini (Wanty), Marc de Maar (Team Roompot) and Sascha Starker (Team Heizomat). Despite the retirement of Rodolfo Torres, due of knee problems, Claudio Corti’s team tried to increase the speed on the ascent, contributing to bringing escapees back with 10 Km to go.
Tomorrow, Saturday May 16th, the Escarabajos will face the stage 4, an ITT (Haßfurt – Haßfurt 26,1 Km).
