Leopold König might have suffered cramps on yesterday’s Tour de France queen stage which prevented him from maintaining his seventh place in the general classification, but the 101st edition of the French grand tour still remains a great demonstration of potential of the 26-year old Czech.

Adding his brilliant performance in last year’s Vuelta a Espana to this equation, the NetApp-Endura leader emerges as a perfect match for WorldTour level teams and his current squad is aware that it will be nearly impossible to keep the Czech in their ranks after his current contract expires with the end of this season.

König himself gave a clear indication that he heard from several WorldTour squads interested in signing him for the next year, but is yet to discuss the future with his current team and to make any decisions.

The 26-year old NetApp-Endura rider told Czech media that his agent "is talking to four ProTour teams."

"He is making it clear that I don't mind sometimes working as a top domestique for a Roman Kreuziger or Richie Porte, but would also want to be leader in several races," König's agent told idnez.cz. 

König also admitted that he still has to "sit and think about what I want."

In the same time, NetApp-Edura manager Ralph Denk agreed that it would be difficult to keep the Czech in the squad, but they intended to discuss the future with him after the finish of the Tour de France.

"We will talk the night we arrive in Paris."
