At the final stage of the Tour de l'Ain, Patrick Konrad has once again proven his great form. Despite a mechanical, the young Austrian scored a fourth place on the difficult last mountain stage over 140 km, and thus secured his third Top10 result of the tour.
Having already finished in fifth place in the first bunch sprint, he laid the foundation for a good result in the overall standings with a sixth place in yesterday's selective stage. Konrad ends the race in 9th place overall, just ahead of his teammate Jose Mendes who is ranked in 11th place. For BORA – ARGON 18, five successful days in France come to an end.
"At the end of the tour we had to complete another difficult mountain stage. After we saw a chaotic race from the start yesterday, today the race was very controlled. This was mainly due to the work of FDJ, who rode confidently and consequently deserved the win. With Jose and Patrick we had two riders in the Top 10. Accordingly, our goal was that the two should try something in the finale. Patrick had a front wheel puncture in the end of the stage and he rode to the finish with a flat tire. Still it’s a great result, although more was certainly possible. The results of the recent weeks show that Patrick is in a great shape. So we can be very satisfied with the race", Sport Director Christian Pömer concludes the Tour de l'Ain 2015.
