Søren Kragh Andersen (Trefor) created a major surprise when he won the fourth stage of the Tour des Fjords and moved himself into the overall lead. His teammate Michael Olsson finished third.
"It is a crazy feeling when you win in cycling, especially when it is at this level," he said. "Winning is what I train for. It is probably the biggest win for me and the team this year - so it's a good day.
"We were five in the group, and I could feel that I was the strongest. I went full gas and got a gap, and when I looked back, I saw that Txurruka and Olsson had left the group behind. It was absolutely perfect as Txurruka looked more like a climber. Olsson sacrificed himself completely for me and then I just did the sprint.
"It will be a difficult task [to defend the lead], but we will do everything we can."
"I felt very strong and tried a couple of times on the circuit," Olsson said. "The goal was to give Søren a good position. Since it was a tough race, it suited me very well. The whole team actually rode really, really well today. It would be a little better to be 1st and 2nd, but it was a really good day."
"Trek and Katusha were happy with the break but we wanted to do something in the finale, so we put Daniel Foder and Thomas Riis on the front, and they caught them," sports director Allan Johsansen said. "On a climb, a 17-rider break got clear and we had Søren Kragh Andersen and Michael Olsson there. I told Søren to take it easy and asked Olsson to cover all attacks."
