After his surprise stage win in stage 4, Søren Kragh Andersen (Trefor) was unable to defend his overall lead on the final stage of the Tour des Fjords. However, the race still ended as a great success for the Danish continental team which had two riders on the final podium with Kragh in second and Michael Olsson in third.
"We were so close but still so far from the win as I was in a position to take the overall. But when we have had time to reflect on it, it is an incredible result for the team," Kragh said.
"I felt I could have followed the attack but when we caught the break, we were on a very narrow road and those located right in front of me, coldn't quite keep up, so I had to chance to respond. But that's cycling, sometimes you're lucky, sometimes not."
"We did a really good race right until the last hill," sports director Allan Johansen said. "Here Søren was boxed in, and we cpuld not close the gap. We only got assistance from the other teams in the very end.
"It's definitely more than approved. We are 2nd and 3rd and are also just seven seconds from winning the teams classification. Only Katusha and MTN Qhubeka also managed to win stages so we did an incredible race."
