Team Saxo-Tinkoff's Roman Kreuziger was well-placed in the peloton throughout most of today’s stage at the Tour de Suisse. As the stage drew to a close he was moved to the front of the bunch by his teammates to avoid crashes and accidents.
“The overall aim of today was to take good care of Roman and maintain his position in the general classification and we succeeded,” said Sports Director Fabrizio Guidi after the termination of the stage. “Our strategy is to protect Roman and offer him all sorts of assistance to allow him to conserve energy and enter the decisive mountains in the race with a chance of exchanging his current position as runner-up for that of race leader.”
Mathias Frank (BMC) still leads the Tour de Suisse while Roman Kreuziger remains second overall.
