After claiming a stage victory at the Tour of Oman, which he himself described as an unexpected one, Alexander Krostoff of Katusha aims to join the Russian team’s roster for Paris-Nice with an ambition to add another stage win to his palmares.
With this year’s course of the Paris-Nice, lacking the time trial and serious challenges for climbers, sprinters will be most likely provided with several chances to determine the stages from bunch sprints. The Norwegian admits that Katusha team will chase stage victories in the first World Tour level stage race of the calendar held in Europe.
“We really want to win a stage,” Kristoff wrote on his website.
Norwegian rider also confessed how important it was to claim an early stage win at the Tour of Oman.
"It became a kind of confirmation of my disposition and the form before the mojor goals of the season. Usually it's hard for me to show good results so early in the season - I need time for the build-up and to find the right rhythm.”
“I didn’t expect to be able to win so early - task in Qatar and Oman was to his top ten results on flat stages. But as it turned out [I managed] to win, and the team played a very important role. All this gives me extra motivation and confidence before the next race, "- he added.
