Aliaksandr Kuchynski did his best to take another Belarusian road race title but on a mostly flat course it was hard to beat renowned sprinter Yuaheni Hutarovich. The Katusha rider gave it a try in the bunch sprint and came away with the bronze medal.
Aliaksandr Kuchynski took another bronze medal for Katusha, taking 3rd place in the road race of the Belarusian National Championships, which was held in Mozyr’.
"Unfortunately, the profile of the race was not hard enough and finally, everything ended with the sprint," he said. "After Tour de Suisse I managed to get in good shape, so today I felt really good. I tried to attack a few times during the race, but the only climb on the course was not selective and it was impossible to gain some ground there.
"Despite that, I did my best today, was active and finally took part in the sprint, taking 3rd place. I think this is a good result anyway. I am very happy for Alex Porsev, who won the Russian Championships in Tula. He deserved this victory, and in general, I am glad our team took another great success."
Yauheni Hutarovich from AG2R La Mondiale took the victory in the Belarusian National Championships in the sprint, just ahead of Branislau Samoilau from CCC Polsat Polkowice and Katusha’s Aliaksandr Kuchynski.
