Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in the 50th edition of Amstel Gold Race, a 258km one-day race to open the Ardennes Classics of the 2015 season on Sunday, the 19th of April. Amstel Gold Race features 34 climbs, most notably the Cauberg (1.2km, 5.8% average gradient, ramps of 12%), which is climbed four times including just before the finish.
UCI World Road Champion Michal Kwiatkowski returns to the Ardennes Classics, and will try to improve on his 5th place finish in the 2014 edition as the leader of Etixx - Quick-Step. He also finished 3rd in La Flèche Wallonne and Liège - Bastogne - Liège. Kwiatkowski will be supported by Michal Golas, Tony Martin, Gianni Meersman, Julian Alaphilippe, Petr Vakoc, and Julien Vermote. These riders prepared for the Ardennes Classics through races like Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco. The team is completed by Stijn Vandenbergh, who was a protagonist in the Cobbled Classics including a solo attack at Paris-Roubaix last Sunday.
