Michal Kwiatkowski has been a dominant factor in the Ardennes classics and now he is ready to go for more glory when he lines up as one of several Omega Pharma-Quick Step leaders at the Tour de Romandie. He will be joined by Tony Martin who could also be a factor on a course dominated by time trial while Rigoberto Uran will use the race to finalize his Giro preparations.
Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team has announced the selection that will participate in Tour de Romandie, a 747.77km race from April 29th until May 4th.
"This is a shorter stage race that starts with a 5.57 kilometer prologue and ends with an 18.5km individual time trial," Sport Director Davide Bramati said. "So, it's a race where three-time UCI World Time Trial Champion Tony Martin can be a factor.
"Michal Kwiatkowski may also play an important role, but we have to see how recovered he is from the efforts of the Ardennes Classics. He will race without pressure and we will see. Then, after this race he will take a period of rest.
"Tour de Romandie will also be an important step for Rigoberto Uran prior to the Giro d'Italia. He had some gastrointestinal problems in the last weeks, but the situation seems to be better. We will know more once we start the race. For him and for his teammates, this will be a way to prepare for the Giro in the best way possible."
