It is not just Peter Sagan that is having the Cycling World raving about young talent. Michal Kwiatkowski is making equally big waves.

“They are two great riders,” Omega sports director, Davide Bramati told Cycling Weekly. “They’ve been facing each other since they were young, and I hope that Michal’s one of the best riders in the next years with Peter.”

“We saw two years ago in the Giro d’Italia that he was going well,” Bramati said. “He was young, only 21, and he finished it off with an 11th place in the last time trial. And had he still had space for improvement, which he showed last year.”

He placed 4th in Tirreno-Ardriatico and 11th at the Tour de France despite helping Mark Cavendish first before attempting to achieve success himself.

Bramati said, “Everyone thought that he’d just work for Mark Cavendish on the flats but he finished 11th overall.”

“He can win a stage race like Tirreno. He was fourth last year, just 53 seconds behind Nibali. That’s not a big difference.”

He can obviously do well in the big races and this is the season to show it. Bramati goes as far to say the Tour could be the best stage for the Pole.

“Why not try for the top ten at the Tour de France this year? He’s young. He’s fast, last year he was in the top four two or three times on stages. Trying for the classification, he will also have his chances to win a stage.”

He is a superb time trialist and Bramati says all he has to work on is the fast and long climbs. Cycle Sport magazine described him earlier this month as “a young Pole who can do just about anything”. With a roster including the Volta ao Algarve, where he finished second last year behind teammate Tony Martin, Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico, País Vasco, the Ardennes Classics, the Tour de Switzerland or the Critérium du Dauphiné and then the Tour de France, he has plenty of areas to showcase his talent.

Big things beckon for sure for a man with the ability to win almost any race he choses. What a talent indeed.
