The route of the Paris-Nice has already been revealed. According to race director Christian Prudhomme, it will provide "suspense every day” – from the gravel sections of the first stage to the traditional final Col d’Eze circuit around Nice, with two summit finishes and many surprises.

The third stage will end on Mount Brouilly and the fifth stage will include Mont Ventoux as the riders will climb to Chalet Reynard (1,435 meters) at km 71 but the novelty will come in the sixth stage where the race will discover an unprecedented summit finish: La Madone d'Utelle .

It tops out at only 1165 meters but "deserves to be included in the Tour de France" according to François Lemarchand, athletic director at ASO. The climb will be decisive in the race as it comes on the penultimate day.. It consists of 15.3 km at an average gradient of 5.7%, one of which, the ninth, climbs at no less than 9.3%. The last 300 meters include a ramp of almost 11% in an extraordinary landscape.

Alberto Contador, double winner of the Race to the Sun, Fabio Aru, Romain Bardet and Richie Porte, winner in 2013 and 2015 will have the chance to test the climb as they have all confirmed their participation.
