Having been an important lead-out man for Sacha Modolo in 2014, Davide Cimolai will continue to ride for Lampre-Merida in 2015. The Italian has signed a two-year extension of his contract with the Italian team.
Speed and stamina, talent and determination have been the signature qualities of Davide Cimolai in his first time as a professional. Lampre-Merida have rewarded him for his development by offering him a two-year extension of his contract.
The 25-year-old Italian has signed an agreement to wear the blue-fuchsia-green colours during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, giving him an opportunity to strengthen his skills and improve the good results he has obtained until now. Even though he is still searching for his first professional win, Cimolai has been close to the top in WorldTour races in the last two year. In the Tour de France, he was 4th on the second stage in 2013 and 9th on stage 4 in 2014, in Tirreno Adriatico he was 6th on stage 3 in 2013, in the Critérium du Dauphiné he was fifth on stage 3 in 2014, in the Eneco Tour he was third on stage 1 in 2014 and in the Vattenfall Cyclassics he finished 7th.
"I'm very happy with the extension of my contract for the next two seasons," he said. "It's a huge satisfaction to see the trust from the team management, from the Galbusera family at Lampre and from Merida. In the past three years, I improved my skills a lot, I'm sure the next season will be important for my full maturity."
